Customs clearance

Clearing starts with the paperwork. For an import we need the bill of lading or airway bill, the commercial invoice and the packing list, plus any permits or certificates your goods require. We check these against each other before anything is lodged, because documents that do not match can lead to queries at verification.

Your goods are then classified under the tariff, which decides the rate of duty. We compute the duty and taxes and send you a breakdown that shows them separately from our own charges. Once you have agreed the figures, we lodge the customs entry with KRA.

After lodgement we follow up any verification with KPA, the shipping line and the container freight station, and arrange release so the cargo can leave the port or CFS. Exports and transit consignments get the same treatment: the right documents, the right classification, and a clear account of what is owed before you pay it.
