Motor vehicle clearance

Vehicles arrive in Mombasa on car carriers or in containers, and they are released through a container freight station. Before the vehicle lands, send us the bill of lading, the invoice and the vehicle details, and we will prepare a duty and tax estimate so you know the cost before you commit to the rest of the process.

Once the vessel is in, we prepare and lodge the customs entry, follow it through verification, and settle the paperwork with the shipping line and the CFS. You receive the breakdown of duty, taxes and our charges before any payment is made. When the vehicle is released we can arrange the onward move, whether that is a delivery to Nairobi or another town in Kenya, or transit to a neighbouring country.

Different vehicles carry different paperwork, and a car for personal use is not handled the same way as a fleet of commercial trucks. Tell us what you are importing and where it is going, and we will confirm the documents and the steps that apply. If you are importing more than one vehicle, tell us how many and whether they arrive together, so we can plan the entries and the release as one job.
