Container trucks loaded at the Port of Mombasa ready for road transit
Port of Mombasa

Cargo bound for Uganda, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania or DR Congo often lands at the Port of Mombasa first. Transit cargo moves under its own documentation, and it has to be handled correctly at every crossing between the port and the consignee.

We prepare the transit documents in Mombasa, coordinate with customs and clearing agents at the destination, and arrange road transport along the corridor. At the border we follow the procedures for that crossing so the truck is not held for want of a paper. The cargo is then delivered door to door, or to the agreed handover point.

Regional trade and transport rules apply to each leg, and we work within them. The main routes are the Northern Corridor towards Kampala, Kigali, Goma and Juba, and the roads south into Tanzania. The routes and border posts we use are shown on the coverage page. Tell us the destination, the cargo and the documents you hold, and we will plan the move. Delays at a border usually come down to paperwork, so the earlier we see your documents the better. Send the bill of lading and the consignee details at the start, and we will confirm what each crossing needs.
